RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is Low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: Solar flare activity was low. A total of 8 C class events was recorded yesterday.(http://www.dxlc.com/solar/) CMEs reported for past two days: June 28-30: No LASCO images available. There is a serious problem with the SOHO high gain antenna. New LASCO images and nearly all other SOHO data is expected to be unavailable until about July 14.(http://www.dxlc.com/solar/, Jan Alvestad) Radiation Measurement Observed Observed/Limit --------------------- -------- -------------- ACE 2hr fluence 4.96E+05 1/726 (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) GOES-10/P2 4-9 MeV protons `P4GM' 2.58E-02 1/3682 (ftp://ftp2.sec.noaa.gov/pub/lists/pchan/G10pchan_5m.txt) GOES-10/P5 40-80 MeV protons `P41GM' 7.20E-03 1/108 (ftp://ftp2.sec.noaa.gov/pub/lists/pchan/G10pchan_5m.txt) Err:502 EPHIN rates (cts/cm^2-s-sr) at last comm. There was an obscure OFLS problem that prevented us from doing the CTI measurement during the most recent perigee. We decided that was acceptable. The JUL0703A products will be out today. S/C: No new spacecraft issues. We'll have a CAP review for the eclipse patches at 9:20 this morning. We'll also do ASVT testing of safe mode recovery today. GOT/IST: Harold reports that Lockheed at Huntsville discovered the problem with 3.9.3: there was a bug in the scripting code that affected commanding. It was caused by not having enough space for file names. They have changed the code and gotten it to work. This was the major reason 3.9.3 couldn't be used. There is still a residual NRT data capture issue, but that has a workaround. Rob asks how will we improve our regression testing to catch this type of issue in the future. We also need to make sure our failback procedure is efficient, to reduce the time to revert to the old system. DATA: OBSID 4399 had a bad star. When we threw it out, the data were good. Also, the fidlites were drifting during the observation. We are studying this. SOT: Because of the SOHO problem with their high gain antenna, we'll get no LASCO images for detecting CMEs until July 14th, and only intermittently thereafter. We will have to rely on the GOES x-ray flux measurements to assess the likelihood of earth-directed CMEs. MEETINGS -------- CAP review at 9:20. Tomorrow's IRU meeting will have to be rescheduled.
