Tomorrow we do the IRU-gyro swap, to run on the B (or 2) system, instead of A (or 1), which has one gyro that's behaving poorly. We start on console at 7:30 am. It should take ~3-4 hours, followed by the polarity check, another ~6 hours. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is Very low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: Solar flare activity was low. A total of 10 C class events was recorded yesterday.(http://www.dxlc.com/solar/) CMEs reported for past two days: July 15-16: No potentially geoeffective CMEs observed. July 17: There may have been a faint CME associated with the C9 flare.(http://www.dxlc.com/solar/, Jan Alvestad) Radiation Measurement Observed Observed/Limit --------------------- -------- -------------- ACE 2hr fluence 9.85E+04 1/3656 (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) GOES-10/P2 4-9 MeV protons `P4GM' 5.54E-02 1/1715 (ftp://ftp2.sec.noaa.gov/pub/lists/pchan/G10pchan_5m.txt) GOES-10/P5 40-80 MeV protons `P41GM' 1.05E-02 1/74 (ftp://ftp2.sec.noaa.gov/pub/lists/pchan/G10pchan_5m.txt) *ACIS* Orbital fluence (since perigee) 7.09E+05 1/1410 (http://asc.harvard.edu/mta/alerts/current.dat) EPHIN rates (cts/cm^2-s-sr) at last comm. JUL2803 products are in preparation, and are expected Wednesday. S/C: The roll bias has been changing, starting on day 195. It got noisy and has a ~10 hr periodic effect. There is also a slight yaw and pitch effect. Neither bothers our observations, but it's good that we are swapping gyros. Today's plan preparing for the IRU-gyro swap:there is a dry run at 10 am in the action room, running for ~ 3-4 hours, followed by a walkthru of the bright star hold procedure. This afternoon at ~2 we'll do the final review of CAPS. West coast is redelivering the final patches this morning to make sure they gave us the latest edition. We'll test them upon receipt. GOT/IST: Pete Fellini is working on helping the SOT regain access to the DSN schedules. Ed gave him the background of the problem. Pete will talk to Rob about access needs, and pursue solutions. DATA: SOT: We approved CAP 847 for monitoring and contingency operations of the ScoX-1 observation to take place Monday at ~12:30 AM.
