Tomorrow: gyro 1 hot restart. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is Low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: Solar flare activity was high. A total of 7 C, 11 M (new high for a single day during cycle 23) and 1 X class events was recorded yesterday. (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/) CMEs reported for past two days: June 9: A partial halo CME late in the day after the X1 event. Most of the ejected material went off the northwest limb - could reach Earth on June 11. June 10: A full halo CME was observed in LASCO C3 images before noon. The source of this CME was likely behind the east limb. Mass ejection was observed off the northwest limb. Any CMEs in association with the major flares during the latter half of the day could not be observed because LASCO has shut its doors awaiting a SOHO spacecraft maneuver. The JUN1603 products are out and will be reviewed today at 2:00. S/C: We did ASVT testing of the safe mode recovery again yesterday. Some issues preventing completion of the test were encountered with the ASVT. John had streamlined the ASVT startup script, and it needed some debugging, now fixed. We'll continue next week.
