SOT shift report 2003-05-30 L1408 Written at 2003:150:15:45 UTC = 10:45 am May-30-2003 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- OBSID CAL-ER But load was terminated yesterday, and hasn't restarted yet. We expect to restart some time after 6 pm today. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is High, but dropping after yesterday's big radiation event.. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: There was a long duration X class event yesterday at 01:00 UTC that will likely hit us between 21:00 UTC today and 18:00 UTC tomorrow. There was a weaker long duration C class x-ray event at 09:00 UTC today that may affect us later.(http://www.dxlc.com/solar/) CMEs reported for past two days: May 28: The X3.9 flare early yesterday was associated with a full halo CME. [This CME likely caused us to shut down yesterday.] May 29: A full halo CME was observed early in the day after an X1.1 flare. This CME will probably arrive at Earth during the latter half of May 30. Opportunities are at 22:00 UTC today or 03:05 UTC tomorrow. We will do a maneuver away from earthblock at 151:05:00, a load break at 151:08:00 and start science at 13:00. Kevin is working JUN09, incoroporating IRU calibration during the 1st perigee and gyro 1 hot/cold restart during 2nd perigee. We ran into a problem ingesting the DOT into SAUSAGE with Matlab 6.5. Will investigate. S/C: At yesterday's FDB we approved the IRU products, and discussed the timing of the hot/warm restart. The decision was to do it the week of JUN09. The gyro is quiet. Yesterday we tested the first half of the safemode procedure, with some items to be corrected. Today, Rino is expected to finish eclipse patch testing. The 2nd half of the safemode will be tested Tuesday. Sabina will be out for the next 2.5 weeks; Dan Shropshire and Eric to cover for her in Prop. There was a SIM T violation, just above the 45 C limit yesterday during the SCS107 move. GOT/IST: Matlab 6.5 problem noted above. We are investigating. DATA: Most of obs4175 that was running when SCS107 ran has bad grades and was saturating TLM. Still investigating how much can be salvaged. SOT:- MEETINGS -------- MUPS presentation today 1-4 pm.
