No loads are currently running. "Plan B", which would have started observations this monning, was NOT given a GO due to the EPHIN E1300 rate being too high (36 vs trip limit of 10). Soft proton flux is also too high. P3 rate, as scaled from P6 (new scale factor is P3=36*P6) is about 72,000, also too high to start observing. Radiation levels and flare probabilities are expected to decrease as active region 486 disappears behind the limb. 3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast issued Nov 5 at 22:00 UTC Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at low to moderate levels. Region 486 still has the potential for M-class activity from beyond the west limb. By day two and three, activity is expected to be at low levels. Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to minor storm levels. The CME from the X28 flare on 04 November is expected to arrive late on day one or early on day two with isolated active to minor storm levels possible. The greater than 10 MeV proton event is expected to end on day two of period. Radiation discussion: "Plan C" starts observations at about 312/0400 (late Friday night).GO/NOGO decision and uplink will be during COMM at 312/0250-0350, when EPHIN rates can be evaluated in real time. This is after radiation zone exit and high enough for the EPHIN rates to be valid (not due to belts). This plan rolls in week of NOV10. An ACIS CTI needs to be added in starting at the beginning of this load. Minimum of 10ks needed, would like 30ks. This is important enough to slip start of science to accommodate it. Also need to put in a maneuver at the beginning of this load (or in a separate load). This is needed for momentum control, since the momentum will rise too high in the current attitude. Next radiation discussion tomorrow morning after 9am.
