The ACE and GOES rates were acceptable, and there were indications that at least one CME had passed the earth, from the recent series of X1 and M flares. A momentum dump will be performed using CAPs 830 and 831 before the OCT2803B load is started. Now running OCT2803B ascending out of radiation zone. Radmon enable at about 301/1301:30. First observation, 'SN 1986J' (obsid 4613) starts at 301/1343. HOWEVER: A massive (X17) flare and hard proton event occurred at about 301/1110. GOES P41 indicator predicts a radmon trip as soon as radmon is enabled. Radiation discussion: It is almost certain that the loads were stopped 10 mins after RADMON enable. We have at least 3 days of safe operation at this attitude. Will need to dump momentum after this time. Working assumption for resumption of science is to restart after exit from next perigee passage (early in day 304). MP will work under this assumption. Next radiation telecon at 5pm EST today. Rob will send out e-mail.
