SOT shift report 2003-09-30 L1531 Written at 2003:273:13:13 UTC = 09:13 AM Sep-30-2003 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- OBSID 03752, NGC 752 2003:272:21:30, ACIS-I NONE - THE SOLAR-STELLAR CONNECTION IN THE NGC 752 OPEN CLUSTER. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is Very low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: Solar flare activity was low. A total of 10 C class events was recorded yesterday. CMEs reported for past two days: September 27 and 29: No potentially geoeffective CMEs observed. September 28: CMEs were observed mainly off the north and south poles. A fainter extension over the east limb indicates that one of the CMEs may have been a partial halo CME. With no EIT images available it is difficult to determine if the CMEs had frontside or backside sources. We may see some minor activity from this later today. We decided to insert a pool target at the end of this week to replace a target that was deleted. This will allow us to leave the OCT06 start time unchanged. S/C: There will be a thermal tagup meeting Thursday.
