RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is Low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: The solar flare activity level was low. A total of 2 C class events were recorded yesterday. (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/) CMEs reported for past two days: August 6-7: No obviously Earth directed CMEs were detected in LASCO images. August 8: A bright full halo CME was observed in LASCO C3 images starting at 09:42 UTC. The leading front was first observed off of the east limb and the south pole. The source of this event was likely about 5-6 days behind the southeast limb. (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/- Jan Alvestad). There was no accompanying GOES x-ray flux event. Earlier reports suggested that it might be more intense than usual, but recent info from MSFC indicates that it is likely to be about the same as usual, not to be of concern for Chandra. S/C: An LA dome temperature monitor is out of limits. This is no longer used. It is probably failing, as several others have in the past. It's not a concern. There was a propulsion limit trip last week that we have found to be a TLM error.
