Observing 'NGC4697' with ACIS-S. Solar proton levels are moderate (under 300) and decreasing. A narrow M-class flare ocurred early today (about 006:0600UT), following yesterday's long duration M6.9 flare. The geomagnetic field is expected to be unsettled to minor storm January 6-7 due to a high speed stream from coronal hole CH74. The CME associated with the M6 LDE early on January 5 could cause active to major storm conditions on January 7 and 8. 3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast issued Jan 5 at 22:00 UTC Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be low to moderate. Region 536 remains capable of producing an M-class event. Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be unsettled to active levels with periods of minor storm conditions for 06-08 January. This is due to the continued influence of a coronal hole high speed stream. Additionally, isolated periods of major storm conditions are possible on 07-08 January as a result of the M6 event at 05/0345 UTC.
