Execute CAP 942 to execute an ACIS CTI measurement. SUMMARY: ---------- The radiation environment was NOT low enough to start an ACIS CTI measurement. There was an X2.5 flare about 1/2 hr before the start of COM with a subsequent rapid rise in the GOES rates. The requirement is that all three of the EPHIN trigger channels (E1300, P4, and P41) be less than or equal to 1/3 of the trigger values and dropping. Unfortunately, the P4 rate was too high during this COM to execute the CAP. We decide NOT to execute CAP 942. 1) Detailed Timeline GMT 315:03:30 ACE 112-187 keV proton rate is ~6,000 and unsteady. ACE P5 & P7 channels show an increase over the last 1/2 hr. GOES high energy proton channels show an increase in the last 1/2 hr also GOES P4 predictor indicates that EPHIN P4 should be about 75. There was just another X2.5 flare on the Sun. The GOES and ACE rates are going up. 315:03:45 AOS on DSS-54, no joy receiver problem, DSN re-boots and all is well 315:03:52 first data EPHIN P4=119.2, P41=3.1, E1300=1.2 altitude = 110,000A OK, get a few more samples from EPHIN, but given the X2 flare, this does not look promising 315:04:01 EPHIN P4=116.2, P41=2.4, E1300=1.4 The EPHIN P4 rate is above the 1/3 threshold and it is likely to go up in the immediate future.
