SOT shift report 2005-08-22 L2223 File created at 2005:234:12:08 UTC = 08:08 AM Aug-22-2005 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- OBSID 05934 1 Limiting Window 2005:234:08:16, ACIS-I NONE: Galactic Bulge Chandra-HST Survey. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is very low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity: The solar flare activity level was low. A single C class event was recorded yesterday (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/). Goes X-ray flux - A very long duration M3 class event occurred at ~0000 UTC today. This might be intense enough to interfere with satellite downlinks, and if associated with a CME may cause problems for Chandra. We need to watch this closely. CMEs reported for past two days: August 19 and 21: No obvious partly or fully Earth directed CMEs were observed. August 20: A faint full halo CME was observed in LASCO C3 images beginning at 18:45 UTC. There was no associated frontside activity so this CME likely had a backsided source. We expect it to be ready for review tomorrow. S/C: The EPHIN OFF correction patch was done last Friday and went nominally. We had a CTI measurement yesterday with elevated temperature that went nominally, and a complete memory dump to be used as a basis for comparision for the recompile effort. GOT/IST: The TLM3 string, which was used for SGI development, and will no longer be needed, is now in operation as a backup to TLMs 1 & 2. TLM 2 is still down. There was an OCC web problem on Friday that has been resolved. DATA: We stopped the AP processing on Friday to avoid interactions with the 60 Garden power outage. We have restarted and expect to be caught up by noon today. SOT: - MEETINGS -------- Data ---- On colossus (/dsops/GOT/input), - Aug 22 04:36 2005_233_2207_234_0454_Dump_EM_74240.gz.
