SOT Shift Report 2005-05-26 L2135 Duration: 26 May 2005 08:30 EDT - 26 May 2005 09:30 EDT 26 May 2005 12:30 GMT - 26 May 2005 13:30 GMT SOT Lead: Tom Aldcroft ======================================== Plan ---- Continue with MAY2305B load: Come out of perigee, then look for X-ray flares in the black hole at the center of M32 T_X02 CAL-ER (59645) 2005:146:18:32:46.724 20.8 -- -- 05690 M32 2005:147:00:58:21.361 116.0 ACIS-S NONE Events ------ No comm this shift Notes from the 9am meeting -------------------------- Ops: In Radiation Zone YES (146/09:25z - 146/21:32z) Current SI Grating NONE Observation ID None, Finished 59646 Target None, Finished CTI Altitude 41.5 kkm Desc Radmon Disable 148/23:34z Next Radiation Zone 149/01:23z to 149/13:50z MP: - MAY3005A products reviewed and issues requiring shuffling of schedule arose. MAY3005B products in work, expected out today. Eng: - CAP 750 was run several times in order to dump the full OBC-A memory (for the first time in nearly a year). Because of a telemetry dropout, which caused Greta to stop outputting memory dump data, a second memory dump was started concurrent with the first. This resulted in an OBC error. Procedural improvements are being considered. - During the memory dump, the CPE heartbeat status flag showed an exception, although the CPE heartbeat itself was still nominal. This is a known telemetry issue related to telemetry and timing, but the duration of the exception was unusual. Radiation: - The sun remains quiet and all radiation indicators are low - Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels. There is a slight chance for a C-class flare from Region 767. - Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet, with isolated unsettled periods on 26 May. Occasional active periods are expected on 27 and 28 May as a coronal hole high speed stream rotates into a geoeffective position. DS ops: - Colossus, rhodes, and unagi will have an OS patch upgrade today. After the patch is loaded, these systems will be rebooted.
