Shift report A July 27 1999, 6:30am EDT, GMT 208:10:30 ACIS Activities this Shift 1. Partial Bakeout/Open Big Vent Valve 2. Set focal plane to -120 C 3. Dump Flight SW Spacecraft Activities: - HRC opened their door !!!! - Earth sensor scan 6 was executed at GMT 207:17:00 to 207:20:00 - IPS 3 burn is rescheduled for Saturday Detailed Notes: 1. Partial Bakeout / Open Big Vent Valve Yippee, the valve opened !!!!!!!! Start: GMT 207:23:16:38 - we skipped the pressure XDCR on commands and the DEA HKP run commands since the XDCRs were already on and DEA KHP was already running - we dumped all the default slots for flight SW and Peter/Royce are in the process of verifying the default slots before tomorrow's science runs - we heated the focal plane up to -50 C in 43 minutes (thanks Ellen) - we waited for 15 minutes to verify the focal plane stabilized at -50 C - we then started the commands to open the valve at 208:00:25 - initial readings on the actuator temperatures were 1VAHOBT = 17.3 C and 1VAHCBT = 10.3 C - actuator was run for 4m52s, it reached a max temperature of 114.9 C, at which it had fully opened the valve, both limit switches read correctly that the valve was now 1VVOPBOP = OPEN and 1VVCLBCL = NCLO, there was much rejoicing - we then monitored the actuator cooldown to -37 C, at which point we disabled the actuator - we skipped the steps which turned the pressure XDCRs off - we maintained the FP temperature at -50 C for 3h10m in order to drive off any contaminants 2. Set Focal Plane Temperature to -120 C Start GMT 208:03:36 - we ran this procedure and reset the focal plane to -120 C - the focal plane temperature started dropping immediately - there are two problems with the procedure and script, a) the procedure has an incorrect checksum for 1A_WB000_204.cld, it should be 50715A6 b) the script disables and clears SCS slot 194, it should disable and clear SCS slot 204 3. Dump Flight SW - we snuck this procedure in because we had the time - Peter is concerned that we got the word count wrong and did not dump enough of the ROM. Peter, Jim and Royce should resolve this tomorrow. 4. Focal Plane Temperature We be stuck, SOMETHING is regulating us to -118.9 C !!!!!!! We have to give up FMT 2 now, so the day shift should check the temperature again later to see if it is still at -118.9 C. Some samples temperatures from Ellen's data and the further drifting down of the focal plane: FP Temp 1CRAT 1CRBT 1WRAT 1WRBT 1CBAT 1CBBT 208:03:36 -49.4 -86.9 -86.9 208:04:05 -57.4 -89.3 -89.3 208:04:22 -67.1 -91.8 -91.8 208:04:46 -77.4 -96.6 -96.6 208:05:14 -86.9 -101.5 -101.5 208:05:40 -93.4 -108.7 -106.3 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 @70500 km 208:06:13 -100.1 -111.1 -111.1 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 @69700 km 208:07:26 -110.0 -118.3 -118.3 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 @66900 km 208:??:?? -115.3 -123.1 -123.1 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 @63526 km 208:09:29 -118.3 -125.5 -125.5 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 @59800 km 208:09:58 -118.9 -127.9 -125.5 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 208:10:09 -118.9 -127.9 -125.5 -82.0 -82.0 -62.4 -59.9 56900 km Staff for this shift ACIS: Ed Bougahn, Mark Bautz, Ellen Sen, Peter Ford, Royce Buehler, Paul Plucinsky, Shanil Virani SOT Lead: Dan Schwartz Notes for the next shift: YOUSAF: 1. For the upcoming science runs, we MUST get the OBSID changed for each science run. It is our responsibility to go through SOT Lead to get the OBSID changed 2. Be sure to use SOP_61030_SETFP_M90 to set the focal plane to -90 C. At one time there was another version of this procedure with a different number; don't use that one. BOB: 1) You should check the EGSE performance as soon as you get in. We are scheduled to switch to the new Squirt SW at 6:30am. This may wreak havoc with our connection to Squirt. 2) We should check the focal plane before perigee passage to see if we are still stuck at -118.9 C. Upcoming ACIS activites: Tuesday is the big day, let's turn on the ACIS CCDs for the first time !!!!!! Starting at Tuesday 5pm - Set FP to -90 C - Load Standard patches - Diagnostic Mode - Raw Data from each CCD - OBF Integrity Test - Dark current measurement Ending at Wednesday at 9am Whew !!! It's gonna be a long day !!!! Paul
