Shift report A8 July 29 1999, 8:00am EDT, GMT 210:12:00 First event mode data from ACIS !!!!!!!! ACIS Activities this Shift: 1. Event Histogram Mode run on the ACIS-I Array OBSID 62973 1st Data Packet at GMT 211:01:41:53 Stop Science at GMT 211:06:26:00 Wonderful data on the internal cal source, the spectra clearly shows the Mn K-alpha, K-beta, the escape peaks, the Mn-L line and various weaker lines. The spectral resolution is fine and the gain is fine. The higher on-orbit background does not effect the spectrum significantly. 2. Internal Cal Source Measurements FP Temp = -118.7 or -118.9 C We had some trouble getting started because the latest versions of our scripts were not in the UDE. The anomaly coordinator insisted on reviewing our scripts in realtime while the spacecraft time wasted away. Sigh. - Timed Exposure Faint Mode on the I array, no g7 events OBSID 62775 Start Science at GMT 211:08:05:08 Stop Science at GMT 211:10:20:30 The spatial distribution of the internal cal source counts look the same as preflight. The spectra look similar to the Event Histogram data. The total rate was about 100 c/s, well within TLM limits for Faint mode. - Timed Exposure Faint Mode on the S array, no g7 events OBSID 62774 Start Science at GMT 211:10:24:04 Stop Science at GMT 211:12:50:00 - Timed Exposure Faint Mode, accept counts from S2 and S3 only, no b255 events, event amplitude filter at 2900 ADU OBSID 62773 Start Science at GMT 211:12:5?:?? Spacecraft activities - HRC continued their activation but did not ramp up their HV to oerational values or put in their cal source. ACIS then swooped in and utilized the time to get more internal background data. - the spacecraft did several manuevers last night, none effected ACIS - work continues to prepare for the final earth scan before IPS burn #3 - we continue to plan with the spacecraft folks to squeeze in as many ACIS activities as possible Staff ACIS - Mark Bautz, Mike Pivovaroff, Royce Buehler, Paul Plucinsky, Shanil Virani SOT Lead - Dan Schwartz ACA - Bill Podgorski
