The CIAO 4.0 Beta 3 software release is now available. This release features a beta of the new Sherpa, the CIAO modeling and fitting package. Details and documentation on the new system are available from the Sherpa website.

Several bug fixes and enhancements to the CIAO Data Model and the ChIPS plotting package are also included.

The CIAO 4.0 Beta 2 software release is now available. This release features a new, more powerful version of ChIPS, the CIAO plotting package. Details and documentation on the new system is available from the ChIPS website.

This release contains the CIAO tools in addition to ChIPS; Sherpa is not included.

CIAO 3.4 is still fully supported and this website will be maintained as usual.

New thread: Create A True Color Image in ds9

SAOImage ds9, the imaging application distributed with CIAO, has the capability for users to create an RGB image and interactively adjust many of its parameters.

There are two software patches for users running CIAO under Mac OS X 10.4. (Solaris and Linux platforms are not affected.)

• Mac OS X 10.4 on PowerPC: CIAO 3.4 for Mac OS X 10.4 on PowerPC has been patched to 3.4.1. This patch fixes problems running prism and filtwin under 10.4 (Tiger). This patch has no effect when installed under Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3 on PowerPC.

• Mac OS X 10.4 on Intel: the CIAO 3.4.1.1 patch makes it possible to run all tools and applications (e.g. Sherpa and ChIPS) in CIAO 3.4 under Mac OS X 10.4 on Intel.
