Item 1: Job Posting for Chandra Data Archive

This is the position of Astrophysicist (Science Archive Operations
Specialist) in the High Energy Astrophysics Division of the
Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. The purpose of this position is
two-fold: provide technical support for the operation of the Chandra
Data Archive; and provide computer-related support of x-ray astronomy
operations and research with the Observatory, including coding,
modifying, testing and maintaining software for archive operations;
developing and maintaining documentation; and drafting and maintaining
materials for websites. 

DUTIES: The employee in this position may perform the following but is
not limited to: maintaining databases for science archiving software
and science data products; participating in the maintenance of the
bibliography database; working as a team member in designing, coding
and testing a suite of software scripts to automate quality control
and science archive maintenance procedures; developing numerical
algorithms to be used in science archive and data quality assessment;
and analyzing data and drawing conclusions regarding the quality,
selection, reliability, and scientific content of the data.

for the Chandra-sponsored Science Workshop entitled

STRUCTURE IN CLUSTERS AND GROUPS OF GALAXIES IN THE CHANDRA ERA
           July 12-14, 2011
at the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Boston, MA.

You must register to attend the meeting.  The registration fee is $80.

The deadline for contributed talks was April 27, so only poster
abstracts can now be submitted.

MEETING ABSTRACT:

   Structure in Clusters and Groups of Galaxies in the Chandra Era

The 2011 Chandra Science Workshop focuses on structure within the hot
intracluster media (ICM) of resolved clusters and groups of
galaxies. This conference will celebrate the interface of observable
phenomena such as shocks, cold fronts, abundance variations, bubbles,
and jets with theory and interpretations related to cluster mergers,
sloshing, and AGN feedback, with an emphasis on joining Chandra
results with those from other missions and wavelengths.
